Elder Sanders and IApparently my emails have not been sending. So this week I will give a recap of the last few weeks. We have had some awesome success and the opposition from Satan that comes along with it. I had a very motivating split with Elder Heller, my friend from my first district in Wuppertal. Elder Heller is a very happy guy and he wants everybody else to be happy too. I love being around people like that. Then we had a very successful street display in Bochum, and overall an awesome day where Elder Sanders was participating as an equal in the companionship even though he had only been on a mission for a month. We taught a lesson to a man named Mohammad who was from Egypt and who wanted to learn about the church instead of about English or German (he came to our Sprachkurs). I also have felt more harassed in the past few weeks than I have ever felt on my mission. To put it shortly, in the past few weeks two people on the street have threatened to hurt us, and two of our neighbors have been very rude to us because of situations I don't care to explain. Basically, it's bad enough that Elder Sanders and I are going to ask President Boyer if we can move the missionary apartment to a different place in Essen. So there has been a lot of good and a lot of bad in the past few weeks. Thr transfer also ended last week. Out of the three companionships who have new missionaries in our district, we all stayed. No surprises there. Elder Graf and Elder Smith, Sister Swain and Sister Perry, and Elder Sanders and I are all staying together. Sister Knott did get transferred though, which means we no longer have two Australians in our district. She and Sister Fuller are both Australian, and they were teaching us some Australian slang before district meeting a week or so ago. Sister Fuller is now training Sister Pitts, who just arrived yesterday. I'm now in a similar situation that I was in Wuppertal, where we have a whole district of new missionaries. I've been on a mission for the longest out of the whole group, which is weird because in Regensburg I was one of the youngest in the group. Other than that, Elder Sanders and I have been working with our investigator and potential investigator list and trying to find people who are ready. The past week has been nice because we have been able to get a whole hour of German study in almost every day. We also got kicked off of the Essen Uni campus. We decided to go finding in the morning on the Uni campus, and there was a blood drive happening at the campus that day. So there were a lot of people around, and one guy reported us to the campus security, who then approached us while we were talking to a guy. They asked for our missionary licenses, and we showed ours to them and thought that the whole deal would be over after that. But it turns out that we needed a special license to do missionary work on the campus. Even though our licenses are supposed to be good for all of Germany. So we went and figured out where we need to go to get this special license yesterday, because our time on the Uni campus so far has been really productive. People have listened and we have had some really good conversations. Haranath came to church on Sunday! It was a good day to come because we watched the Sunday afternoon session of general conference, and there was the option to watch in English. So I'm sure he was able to understand better than he would have. Here in Germany we don't get the chance to watch the Sunday afternoon session at the normal time, because the time is eight hours ahead, and so it would happen too late for us to reasonably be able to watch. Scripture of the week Daniel 3:17-18 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Australian phrase of the week She'll be right. Translation: you'll survive/it will be fine I hope you have a good week! Elder Kimball Germany Frankfurt Mission Elder Heller and I |
